Newhall FC and Pingle hit the back of the net!
A South Derbyshire school at the heart of Swadlincote's sporting community has teamed up with Newhall Football Club on the pitch.
The all-weather pitch at the school is used by the junior football team each week for training and as one of the main venues for Burton Junior Football League matches every weekend. The pitch is one of the most utilised all weather pitches in the area and hosts clubs including Derby County Community Trust and South Derbyshire Sports Partnership. This is in addition to a full programme of school activities during the day and after school.
Newhall Football Club, recently highly commended in the South Derbyshire Sports Awards, presented a cheque to the school to help pay for new football nets at the facility. Lee Cantrill, committee member of Newhall FC and manager of their under 10 Tigers team commented, ‘We are only too happy to pay for the new nets. As one of the main users of the pitch, we wanted to make our contribution to the facility and help forge a sporting partnership with The Pingle School’.
Selina Morgan, business manager at the school, went on to say, ‘It is very generous of Newhall Football Club to make the donation. We appreciate the partnership we have with all of the organisations that use our facilities and see ourselves at the heart of this community not just in the normal school hours. Newhall Football Club have been visitors to our all-weather pitch for many years and we look forward to working with them more closely in the future. We have a whole programme of community activities that cater for members of the community of all ages.’
