Three games in and at last the Tigers' effort rewarded them with their first three points of the season. It is now quite apparent that the Tigers will have to be at their level best week in and week out to get anything in this league.
Both these sides went at each other from the off. It was 0-0 at half time, but it could have been 5-5. Winshill hit the bar twice and Collins made three super saves for the Tigers. At the other end, Sharp also found the woodwork and Cantrill went close after a superb cross from Sharp. Fantarrow was just wide of the mark on two occasions, and Shakespeare had a long range effort well saved on the stroke of half time.
Although the second half did not produce the level of chances as the first, it was still a very tense affair. You just got the feeling whoever struck first would go on and win it, and so it proved. After an early Fantarrow shot was well saved, the Tigers got the breakthrough. Sharp, putting in a tireless performance, killed the ball stone dead on the edge of the area after being put in by Fantarrow, turned his defender inside out before unleashing an unstoppable strike into the bottom right hand corner!
Sharp and Fantarrow could have doubled the lead, but both had shots well saved by the Winshill keeper. But it was the defending late on that the Tigers had to thank for the clean sheet. Taylor , Roberts and Elks made some superb last ditch tackles, and James put in two fantastic block tackles, as the Tigers survived a late flurry of corners. It was Sharp though once again who proved to be the Tigers' hero. Collins saved at the feet of a Winshill attack, but the ball broke loose and Sharp came form nowhere to clear the goal bound shot off the line to win it for the Tigers.
For sheer effort and hard work, both sides deserve a lot of credit. I can barely recall a foul. This was an honest end to end game of football and a joy to watch. But by god it shreds your nerves!!
Tigers star man…Tristan Sharp…just one superlative “Brilliant”!

Cracking game thoroughly enjoyed it, it was nice to see our club chairman Mark Adamson there too who commented on the courage of the heading from both sides.
