Today marked the start of the new Season for the Jaguars. This was the first game they had played together against a very experienced Hilton team who have had some very good results over the Seasons. The game started frantically which Hilton took advantage of scoring a goal very early on with some well worked football. However, this did not rattle the Jaguars who then settled and started to pass the ball about with Poppy in the centre to the other midfielders of Junior and Lannis. Thomas and Michael put in some tough challenges at the back, but pressure from Hilton was high in the opening exchanges resulting in a couple of goals in quick succesion. However, the Jaguars did not give up and Zane from the forward position started to find pockets of space and tried to get some link up play with Lannis and Junior with Poppy continuing to anchor the midfield. Matthew made a couple of great saves but a bit of bad luck, unfortunate own goal and an excellent free kick from the opposition before half time meant the Jaguars conceded a few more goals.

Half time was a useful regroup for the team, with a bit of a reshuffle Matthew came into defence from Goal and Zane went in goal. The second half started very well for the Jaguars, Jacob helped out the defence putting in some excellent tackles and passes to the midfield. Tom was extremely industrious down the wing and forced the opposition into a number of errors. Lannis looked a real threat to score with his pace and Junior continued to hold the ball up well up front. Hilton however, did contiue to use their experience to create chances but Thomas and Matthew had other ideas and repeatedly put in many good challenges to make it difficult for them. Zane made some worldly saves including a treble save preventing the ball from crossing the line. With about 10 mintues to go the Jaguars had their best chance to score when Lannis was played through and beat the final defender bearing down on goal the Hilton defender tried a last ditch challenge, however this tripped Lannis saving a goal scoring opportunity, the resulting free kick was blocked well by the wall.

As the game drew to an end the Jaguars grew in confidence and continued to try and pass the ball about with Michael and Tom linking up nicely a couple of times and the defence looking sturdy, with Zane continuing to make good saves in goal. The second half finished with no goals for either team, a very strong second half for the Jaguars.

A great start for the Jaguars who will learn a lot from the game today with everyone in the team putting in an excellent effort and will be looking forward to the next game.

Player of the Game was given by the opposition to Zane for his 2nd half clean sheet
