A lesson in taking corners,
So Belvedere were the opponents today and again the lads were well up for the challenge ahead as we know thy are a really good side. The opening part of the game was entertaining and was mainly played in the middle of the park with either keeper not really being  troubled. It was Belvedere who took the lead when we failed to deal with a corner that fell to the player to volley into the net. We then were pushed back into our own half and conceded another 2 goals from the same corner scenario. Finally inspired by my captain Liam he revved the lads up and took it upon himself to lead the charge and scored a brilliant individual goal virtually from the kickoff. The determination to power his way through on goal seemed to lift everybody and the lads were pressing all over the pitch, which is how the next goal came when Aeron applied pressure to the defender and managed to steel the ball on the edge of the box and slot the ball into the net. We were well and truly back in the game now and unlucky not to equalise with Joseph Aeron and Liam going close again. Unfortunately just before  the end of the half Belvedere scored again from a corner which curled straight into the net. Brandon made a fantastic save to stop a 5th going on from close range. At half time all I could say was to keep doing what you are doing and that is what they did! Aeron out paced the defender on the right hand side and lashed the ball hard and low across the keeper into the net. The game really opened up with both keepers making good saves. After some confusion we won a penalty with some great play by Charley saw him get hacked in the box. Matty stepped up to take the penalty and unfortunately hit it straight down the middle at the waiting keeper so the game finished 4-3.
Plenty of positives to be taken from the game as I felt we matched them all over the pitch with fantastic effort and determination showing the re found team spirit that at times seemed to be missing last season.
Well done lads overall I am please with you all and we were unlucky not to have got more from the game you can hold your heads high and be proud of your performance
