Man Of The Match Ewan Hinton
After last weeks battering of Belvedere we were hoping to make it back to back wins this week against Mayfield who we didn't know all about before today. It was a reasonable start in the rain and ww looked quite evenly matched but then a couple of errors at the back could have been costly if Ewan Hinton hadn't of bailed us out with 3 outstanding saves from close range.
I think after then we woke up and started to push Mayfield back we didn't really create any clear cut chances with Matthew Hawtin trying his luck from range and a couple of scrambles in the box where the ball just didn't fall for us so we ended up going in at half time all square.
In the second half we started well and it wasn't long before we took the lead after Lewis pulled a free kick back to Joseph Hill who was waiting to smash it into the net from just outside the box.
Not long after we won a corner which Lewis took and completely out foxed the keeper and defense by his own admission miss hitting the ball straight into the net. Mayfield threatened a couple of times but Joseph and Matthew had enough about themselves to deal with them although we may of got a little bit lucky at times.
The game fell a bit flat toward the end and we continued to dominate possession and with virtually the last kick of the game Charlie Starkey scored after Lewis had a shot from distance saved, Joseph Rawbon was unlucky not to finish the rebound when out of nowhere Charlie arrived to thrash it in and also took a wack for his trouble.
All in all after a shaky start we earned a well deserved win today. We are holding onto the ball more and still working together so yet again we are very pleased with the teams performance.
