Eagles Go Top With A Bang!

Newhall's Eagles go top of the league this bonfire weekend and certainly started this game with a bang!

The eagles traveled to Alvaston Park to take on the seven players of Sherwin FC who became eight later in the game.

In the 1st minute the eagles attack saw Chloe Johnston find space in the area and her shot found the bottom corner of the net.

The eagles made it two in 2 minutes with a superbly delivered corner from Ella Walker found Jodie Oughton at the back post to fire home with a sweet strike.

Melita Astle, who on her last appearance against Sherwin got a hat trick, was looking to add to her goals against the team and she found the keeper quick off her line to collect the ball.

Mikaela Colebrooks long shot drew the save from the keeper and Ella saw her effort saved well to the keepers right. The keeper then produced a fine double save blocking Jodies shot at the near post and then she was up and across her goal to push Melitas effort round the post.

On 16 minutes, after just coming on as substitute, Natalie Eley ran on to the ball and her initial effort was saved but she followed in and slotted the ball past the unlucky keeper.

With the eagles well on top Melita hit the side netting, Jodie forced the keeper into another good save and she again saved well from Melita's effort from the edge of the box.

On 26 minutes Emily Bridge played a superb ball to Natalie who ran into the area and gave the keeper no chance.

Rosie Collins was also making good use of the space and after a  good run down the right saw her shoot just over.

On 30 minutes Keeley Deery's superb finish from just inside the box after a great run down the left extended the eagles advantage.

HT 5-0

The eagles started the second half just like the first and in the 1st minute of the half Keeley saw another great strike beat Sherwins keeper.

Captain Courtney McIntosh was pushed into midfield to take advantage of the space and a fine strike was well saved by the keeper.

From the corner Kiera Dyche's great header went just over the bar.

On 41 minutes Emily got on the score sheet, a fine cross from the right saw Emily's right foot strike fly in at the near post.

Emily saw a clever flick with the boot well saved and Charlotte Catlin, also pushed into midfield, saw her long range effort well saved.

On 46 minutes Rosie finished well from six yards after another good run down the right.

Natalie was played in and saw the keeper save well, Courtney still looking for a goal fired over from six yards and she was even more unfortunate hitting the crossbar with a great shot and she followed the rebound and saw her shot inches wide.

On 52 minutes Keeley got our second hat trick of the season, finding time and space on the edge of the area her shot again gave Sherwins keeper no chance.

Courtney then got a goal her effort deserved on 55 minutes, from just past the center circle in Sherwins half the ball dropped nicely for Courtney to hit a high shot into the box, time stood still as the ball dropped and found the back of the net, possible contender for goal of the season?

Sherwin did get a goal after a corner was awarded and Shelby Wright found the net direct with Chloe Woodward unlucky not to save.

The eagles went back up the pitch and Emily fired over after a superb ball into the area.

On 64 minutes Emily made no mistake, a great strike completed the goal tally for the day!

FT 1-11

Squad - Chloe Woodward, Whitney Garner, Courtney McIntosh, Chloe Greenfield, Melita Astle, Mikaela Colebrook, Chloe Johnston, Ella Walker, Jodie Oughton, Rosie Collins, Emily Bridge, Charlotte Catlin, Kelley Deery, Natalie Eley, Kieara Dyche,

Player of the Match - Keeley Deery, great goals for her hat trick and passing from left to right of the pitch was superb with excellent vision.

What can I say girls, a superb performance against a stubborn Sherwin who battled well. The defence looked strong, midfield used the time and space well to create numerous chances and the forwards doing a great job finding the net. With seven different scorers a great team performance from all, SUPERB GIRLS, WELL DONE!!!
