Tigers entertained Unity in this Cup match which replicated the League meeting 2 weeks before which had finished all square at 2-2 .

Tigers took the lead with Aarons looping shot finding the top corner 1-0 .

The rest of the first half was very even with both defences on top though the forwards from both teams were giving them much to think about .

On 30 minutes the Unity central midfielder ( No 10 ) collected the ball in the centre circle and ghosted through the midfield with a mazy run and finished smartly from 15 yards . It was an excellent goal but the fact he was allowed to get so close to goal without a serious challenge on him was alarming .

HT 1-1

Unity took the lead after 3 minutes of the second half with another smart finish from the Unity No 10 who was finding space on a regular basis . Tigers didnt allow their heads to drop and Aarons tenacity paid off when a driving run and shot was saved by the keeper but he reacted quickest to rifle the ball home . 2-2

From this point on Unitys finishing took over and they went 2-3 up almost immediately . A free standing header from their No10 once again made it 4 and as Tigers tried to push forward and get back in the game Unity added a couple more to complete the scoring .

FT Tigers 2 Unity 6

In summary a well deserved victory for Unity . Tigers are always encouraged to get the ball down and play when in posession . The shortcomings today were that they panicked at times when in posession - in part down to Unitys energy and closing down - and also that when not in posession the lads need to pick up the opposition and make their options on the ball as few as possible - too often players look at someone else to mark the opposition  instead of taking individual responsibility . That said Unity are a very able team and with a few tweaks and a full and fit squad we will look forward to meeting them again in the League . The boys never stopped trying even at 2-6 down and deserve a pat on the back for their efforts .
