Mad rush at St Georges.

U11 Rams started the cup campaign today. It should of been a 12.45 ko but ended upkicking off at 13.00.

This made it a bit of a rush for the Derby season ticket holders amongst and some others that had got some free tickets for the game.

From the start though it looked like the Rams would not let this match go to extra time, playing some good football that we had been working on in training.

On 6 mins Bobby got the first and then a 7 minute hat trick from Adam followed 8,14 and 15 mins.

H-T Whittington 0 Rams 4

Changes made and the side lost it's shape allowing Whittington back into the game.

Whittington got a goal back and were causing us problems time and time again. Then they got another goal back. 4-2 to the Rams.

Still causing us problems we broke into the Whittington half and won a rather lucky penalty. This was totally against the run of play as we had been under loads of Whittington pressure.

Jakub took the spot kick and drove in his first goal of the season on 40 mins.

This knocked the stuffing out of Whittington and on 50 mins Bobby scored his second of the game to make it 6-2.

F-T WHITTINGTON 2 RAMS 6

Some great stuff at times from the Rams but we must stop giving sloppy goals away.

A strange game today because we normally start playing ten minutes after the first whistle has gone but today it was different and we started well which showed in the score at half time. Some really good performances not just this week but last week too. Nice to see some of the stuff we practice at training starting to pay off but as Ian says, we do give some sloppy goals away and when playing tough competition it shows. The further we go the harder it will be and as we go in to older leagues up against greater competition the more you will see the harder it is to earn a point or three if your good. Both Ian and myself have commented to each other about how we feel the team is coming together now and is probably in our minds the best it has ever been. The 'new blood' is gelling in nicely and we are starting to help each other and learn some new techniques with some good combinations of play. Moving forward our defence is the key because if we defend well all game and do not give a goal away your guaranteed a point whereas if you push forward and score three there's no guarantee as you may have let four in and get nothing. We really do need to concentrate on our defence and the last two weeks has been a great start with our central defender not only doing a great job at the back but also moving up front for a corner and heading in a couple of goals. I could pick out each and every player as to their strengths but it would make for a long write up. Parents picked Jamie for MOM which was down to his commitment and effort he put in all game and managers players was Bobby for his reading of the game and solid performance in that central defence position.

Great work TEAM !
