Newhall Tigers 5 Whittington 1

Tigers returned to action after a 2 week layoff with a tough home fixture against Whittington . Dense fog cleared quickly to allow the fixture to go ahead and Tigers dominated the early exchanges though its fair to say that Jack in the Newhall goal was probably the busier of the two keepers with 2 good stops that  kept the scores level .

HarryL and Jordan were finding lots of space on the flanks and delivering good supply balls but Newhall legs were failing to capitalise on them - when we did manage an effort on goal they were invariably high or wide with the Whittington goalkeeper rarely tested . Despite looking solid at the back with HarryA , Kieran and Niall Whittington took the lead when posession was lost in midfield and a nicely weighted pass was finished cooly by the opposition forward 0-1 .

Tigers response was immediate and full of determination . Zak , Josh , Owen and Cameron took a real grip on the midfield to prompt efforts on goal from Connor , Alex and the ever willing Aaron . However it was a shot across the keeper from Cameron which levelled the scores just before half time .

HT 1-1

Second half saw Tigers kicking down the hill and if anything their posession was even greater than the first half . Owens dominance in the air was almost total but Tigers failed to take advantage with a lack of determination to get on the end of these flicks in dangerous areas . Toms introduction and physical prescence to the defence  nullified the Whittington attack even further as Tigers pushed forward .

Dylan gave Tigers the lead with his first touch almost straight from the kick off and HarryL added a further two - all with cool composed finishes . Alex chipped in with a neat header - just reward for his hard work .

FT Tigers 5 Whittington 1

In summary a good performance but the lads must learn to take advantage of  their team mates good play . Time after time the ball was flicked on into an empty 6 yard box with Coaches trying to get the boys to gamble with a timed run . Had they done so a tap in might have been their reward which in a tighter game might make a big difference !!! Well played boys ,.
