Tigers Ousted in a fiesty encounter

Tigers line up: Lewis (GK) capt, Josh (RB), Mia (CB), Louis (LB), Thomas (RM), Tom (DM), Alex (AM), Adam (LM), Travis (CF). Subs: Brett, Callum, Ben.

Tigers were up against top of the table and early pace setters Midway White and Tigers started brightly on a fresh morning at Shobnall. Neither team managed to get a firm hold of the game early on with chances few and far between. Lewis got a knock early on and a nose bleed for his efforts at shutting out the Midway attack and was replaced by Thomas in goal with Callum taking to the left of midfield.

Lewis returned to action a few minutes later. But still neither team could find an opening goal, with the opposition causing the defence problems on more than one occasion with Tigers riding their luck at times.

It was however Tigers that got the lucky break, Alex breaking from midfield and strong enough to hold off the pressure of the Midway defender and open his body up and steer it past the keeper and into the net. 1-0 Tigers!.

Tigers then got caught sleeping to concede the equaliser before half time. A Midway corner was taken short and whipped in, a scramble ensued and the ball squirmed in off a Newhall defender. 1-1.

Half time 1-1.

Tigers struggled throughtout the majority of the second half and rarely created any chances of note. Alex's endevour though chasing down A high lobbed ball into the box, he rose well and headed over the advancing keeper into the net, only for the goal to be harshly disallowed for a push.  Tigers also had a legitimante shout of a penalty turned down by the referee, who in fairness had a very good game, and was consistent and fair in her decisions.

Tigers got caught on more than one occassion when Midway broke with some good composed football. Both Tom and Mia giving away free kicks with firm but slightly over excuberant challenges with warnings from the referee ringing in their ears.

The opposition Left midfielder made the scoreline 2-1 through one of these breaks slotting it wide of the on rushing Lewis in goals. Alex had a couple of good chances and wasn't far away with free kicks.

Tigers began to look tired in the searing heat and conceeded a third not long before the end to make the final score....

Tigers 1 - 3 Midway.

Todays player of the match chosen by Shaun went to Mia, despite the scoreline she was fantastic again in the heart of the defence.

Blackout winner - Laurie Hill.

Tea/coffee/cake fund is looking very healthy, thanks for all your fantastic support!

Thanks Ron. Likewise I read yours too when I get a spare 3 hours. (Only joking). we have had some good performances so far this season and all the games have been close fought affairs. sounds like the U13's just need a bit of luck to find that elusive win that will get them rolling again!

Glad to see that you are having some good matches too, Chris but it does nothing for the nerves.  Well played lads.

I could not make this match,  Mrs P says the report was spot on.  The left midfielder reckons he was marked out of a lot of it, he does not enjoy playing against Newhall, especially as he bagged a hat trick the day before for Newhall U11's.  All the best for the rest of the season Chris, Shaun and the lads
