Eagles Continue Fine Form
Newhall FC Eagles continued their fine start to the 2012/13 campaign with an 8-0 victory over the eight players of St Georges FC.
Within the first minute Emily Brigde saw her shot saved by the keeper. On 3 minutes Emily ran clear through the middle and this time gave the keeper no chance firing into the bottom corner. Natalie Eley on 4 minutes then scored a similar goal holding off the defender and firing past the keeper. The girls then settled and started to knock the ball around taking advantage of the extra body. On 12 minutes Kiera Dyche put in one of her trade mark long throws and Keely Deery was on hand to put the ball into the net. As the girls relaxed St Georges forced Chloe Woodward into a good save watching a swerving long shot all the way and getting her knee to knock the ball round the post. St Georges then shot wide with a well taken free kick just outside the area and Melita Astle cleared well at the back post from a St Georges corner.
Melita was involved from the kick off taking the ball down the right and finding Ella Walker in the box to finish on 41 minutes. Tia Hylton was unlucky after St Georges keeper was unable to hold onto a corner and saw her shot wide. On 56 minutes Kiera came up for a short corner and her cross found Chloe Johnston in the six yard box who finished well. The short corner then worked well again as Natalie found Keely and her return pass saw Natalie's superb finish into the top corner. Emily was soon working the keeper after another good run and shot saw her push the ball over. Emily made no mistake on 63 minutes after Keely's well taken corner saw Emily guide the ball past the keeper. With St Georges tiring Ella shot at the keeper, Mikeala Colebrook fired wide after a good interception in midfield and then wide from another well taken corner and Melita forced the keeper to push her shot over from close range. On 80 minutes the Eagles got another corner and Rosie Collins scored direct from the kick giving the keeper no chance.
