This was the first match of the season with Newhall Jaguars playing for the first time in their new gold and blue kit, sponsored by Mr Devanji Odedra of One Stop - Wellwood Stores in Newhall. They looked great and both teams provided an exciting game of football.

Newhall kicked off, and shortly after, Fin put a cross in from the edge of the box for Rhys to give Newhall an early lead. Whittington came back with a number of chances that were stopped by Sam, and Ethan in defence as well as supported by the midfield, Oliver, Rhys and Harvey, getting back to defend, but eventually Whittington equalised. 10 minutes into the match, Newhall made a triple substitution with Oliver, Harvey and Sam making way for Aaron, Matthew and Lucas. Whittington again attacked strong but Newhalls defense held. Good passing between Newhall players resulted in a left footed cross into the box by Rhys to Fin, and a fumbled save from the keeper giving Aaron the chance to finish and to restore the lead. A great long shot from Rhys extended the lead further. Newhall started to struggle to close down Whittington players and get their tackles in as Whittington levelled the match. Newhall dug deep and continued their passing game resulting in another goal from Aaron and a first half lead.

Newhall made three half-time substitutions with Rhys, Ethan and Harrison with Lucas taking over in goal. Newhall continued to struggle to close down Whittington and to put in their tackles. Digging deep again Fin put in a cross for Harvey who levelled the match again. Two further substitutions saw Rhys and Ethan going on for Fin and Sam. Continued passing from Newhall and hard work to win the ball back resulted in Rhys getting his hatrick. A nervous few minutes followed as the Newhall defence held under intense Whittington attack forcing Lucas to make some good saves. With two minutes to go Newhall got the ball clear again and secured the win.

A good first game by all of the team, with a lot of positives and some learning points to take away.
