Rams get stuck in the mud!
Rams line up: Lewis (GK), Callum (RB), Josh (LB), Mia and Mitchell S (CB), Tom (DM), Mitchell L (DM), Ben (RM), Ksha (LM), Brad (AM), Harry (Att) Subs Adam & Kian.
The Rams started brightly on a heavy, muddy pitch. The first half was a very even affair with both Newhall and Woodville playing end-to-end stuff. Ben worked the ball well down the right wing and neatly passed it to Harry who could not get it past the Woodville keeper. Tom and Mitchell Lees both worked well in the centre of the pitch tackling and distributing the ball well.
Brad linked up well with Harry in attack but they found it difficult to find a way past an organised Woodville defence. Mitchell S and Mia both worked effectively in the centre of the defence battling for every ball and clearing the danger when necessary.
Midway through the first half Woodville crossed from wide right and the ball made its way through to an attacker who slotted it past Lewis.
Ksha battled well on the left wing and made some excellent passes to Brad and Harry. The full backs Josh and Callum worked tirelessly at the back in difficult conditions.
Ben was replaced by Kian and Adam came on for Ksha. Adam provided some good crosses from the left wing for Harry to run onto.
Half Time Newhall Rams 0 – Woodville 1
Second half the Rams lined up: Lewis (GK), Callum (RB), Josh (LB), Mia and Mitchell S (CB), Tom (DM), Mitchell L (DM), Kian (RM), Adam (LM), Brad (AM), Harry (Att)
The pitch had deteriorated into a mud bath for the second half to prevent any free flowing football. The Rams kicked off and started the second half well. Some excellent attacking runs by Brad were stopped by some resolute defending which prevented him having many clear sights of goal.
The centre of the pitch was now unplayable and we found it very hard going.
Late on in the second half when we were beginning to tire Woodville added a couple of goals from some neat passing moves that split our defence apart.
The Rams never gave up today and battled well on a very difficult surface.
Full Time: Rams 0 - 3 Woodville
