Rams battle bravely but fall at the last as Rhys runs the risk of a red.

Rams starting line up: Lewis (GK), Josh (RB), Thomas and Mia (CB), Call (LB), Tom and Rhys (DM), Adam (LM), Ben (RM), Brad (AM), Harry (Att). Subs: Kian,Ksha, Mitchell Lees.

Unlike in previous weeks where we have had early kick offs the Rams started brightly today on a damp pitch with long grass. Some good early battles all over the pitch with both teams trying to take hold of the game. A neat ball through from Tom found its way to Harry who poked it past the Rolleston keeper to send Rams 1-0 up.

Rams were strong today in the challenge and never gave the opposition time on the ball to play. Rams were awarded a free kcik inside their own half halway through the first period with a challenge that should have led to a Rolleston booking as Josh got a fore arm to the back of the head.

Indesicive play in the middle and the lack of a challenge saw Rolleston take advantage and pull one back from the left on 15 minutes. Rolleston then scored again on 27 minutes to go 2-1 up.

Lewis made a great save on the half hour but the rebound dropped into the danger area and Josh was under pressure with his attempted clearance and put through his own net. 3-1 to Rolleston.

Heads didn't drop again and Rams battled well, Rhys putting in some great takes first half, the pick of the bunch was a fantasticly timed sliding tackle that won the ball perfectly and fired the Rams up.

Just befoe half time Rams got one back. Tom using his strength and skill in the opposition 18 yard box linked well with Brad who battled to get a foot on it and poke it past the Rolleston keeper.

Half Time: Rolleston 3 - 2 Rams.

The half time team talk was easy, just keep doing the same as the first half and battle for every ball.

Rams started the half brightly, Rhys was outstanding during the game and was really using his strength to win the ball, sometimes giving away a foul, but never pulled out of a challenge.

And it was Rhys's effort that helped get the Rams back level. Rams had a corner from the left, Rhys made a run and put himself in front of the keeper, who was too bothered by Rhys to see Brad in the 6 yard box unmarked to stab home the equaliser. 3-3.

Rhys picked up a yellow for one challenge too many that the Ref deemed dangerous, this was soon follwed by another foul andupon a word of advice from the ref, Rhys was withdrawn for his own good to prevent a Red.

The loss of Rhys had a big impact on the outcome of the game as Rams started to concede more goals. Rolleston went 4-3 ahead after a Josh back pass to Lewis bobbled and Lewis's attempted clearance went amiss and Rolleston pounced.

Rolleston extended their lead when a whipped cross from the right was met by Thomas, but he sliced his attempted clearance and it went agonisingtly past Lewis. 5-3.

Brad worked well in the midfiled and linked well with those around him and Harry up front. Mitchell Lees had two attempts late on in the game, one dropping just over the bar and the other hitting Harry on its way towards goal.

Rams heads never dropped though and they kept battling for every ball right to the end, this despite a further two Rolleston goals.

Full time: Rolleston 7 - 3 Rams.

The scoreline doesn't reflect the effort the Rams put in today and how well they battled and played some decent football.

Rhys was outstanding today and really epitomised the Rams effort and desire. Lewis made some fine saves again. Josh defended expertly. Mia was a real rock and reads the game so well. Brad's energy and skill was good to see and Harry is always a threat. But every player today put in a great effort and thats all we can ask.
