The team started the game very well and pressed the Mickleover team really well making it very difficult for them to play. We were very unfortunate not to score on numerous occasions and I think if some of the early chances had gone into the net instead of us hitting the woodwork on a few occasions then the confidence of the team would have continued.
It wasn't meant to be and Mickleover showed that they were a good football team and played some very good passing moves which was good to watch.
Our boys did continue to try though and did play well in patches through the game.
Daniel Burt played his first game in goal and pulled off a few good saves and was not at fault for any of the Mickleover goals.
In front of him Daniel Earp was partnered in defence by Kian who came in for the game in the absence of Noah. Both of these did get some good tackles in where they could but were left a little exposed at times when Mickleover passed through us. Neither did anything wrong and continued to try and both came off showing that they had put everything in for the team.
In Midfield were Harrison, Logan and Tommy who started really well with there pressing and effort at closing down the opposition. They saw plenty of the ball early on and worked some good chances for themselves and Tyler who was further forward in attack. We did show part way through the match the need for pressing and tackling high up the pitch and during this time saw Mickeover have there best period of the game. Saying this, the three came back well into the game and finished a lot better and doing the things which we have been saying is important.
Tommy and Tyler both got on the scoresheet again and were unlcuky not to score more than they did.
We did play well in periods of the game and i believe we can take more from this in terms of learning for the team and players than we have in previous games and I am sure we will be better for this in the coming weeks.
Keep it up guys, we are doing well.
