Tigers travelled to Rolleston yesterday to pit their wits against a team who finished 5th last season .

Kicking uphill with the breeze in their faces the game was fairly even first half with Rolleston operating very much on the break - Tigers dominated posession and efforts on goal but we never really cut Rolleston open and made that clear sight on goal . Crosses just evaded Aaron , Connor and Alex and the Rolleston goal remained in tact .

The small pitch meant that play was very congested and Rolleston continually launched the ball downfield from the Goalkeepers hands - not how the Tigers are encouraged to play but the threat was dealt with well by the defence with some good heading by Niall , HarryA , Kieran and well policed by Jack in goal .

Just before half time the Rolleston danger man Charlie broke free and unleashed a powerful drive that Jack did well to push away .

HT 0-0

With the slope in their favour and a stiffening wind at their backs Tigers took to the field for the second half optimistic they could now boss the game even moreso than the first half . Thats exactly what happened with Tigers now camping in the Rolleston half but yet again without really opening up Rolleston and getting a clean strike on goal . Good interplay from Owen , Sam , Josh and the hardworking Zak meant we were constantly in posession . Then after 15 minutes of the 2nd half a neat finish by Aaron from a through ball gave us the lead . Tom now had the Rolleston threat of Charlie well and firmly shackled as his pace and physical prescence came to the fore .

The lads now calmed down a little and played some lovely stuff with HarryL and Jordan working hard to get crosses into the danger areas . On 55minutes Lewis was called into action when a perfectly timed run by the Rolleston forward led to a scramble and a shot on goal which Lewis dealt with calmly .  Tigers had now become quite narrow in their play with the widemen getting sucked into the middle of the park - this helped negate the rare Rolleston forays forward but also strangled our attacking prowess somewhat . Then on 65 minutes came the goal that effectively sealed the points . A beautifully flighted free kick by Niall found HarryL s head from 4 yards out for Tigers second .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      FT Rolleston 0 Tigers 2      To summarise a strong performance from Tigers who are still shaking off that pre season rustiness - controlled display but lacked a little creativity in midfield today but a good performance and another clean sheet . Unfortunately we now have a 3 week layoff tiil we resume our League fixtures
