Rams rolled over again by Rolleston

Rams lined up with Lewis in goal, a back four comprising of Callum, Leo, Mia and David. Thomas just in front, Ben on the right, Adam on the left, Rhys as attacking midfield, Josh and Harry upfront. Kian as our only substitute.

The Rams knew they were going to be up against it again tonight with no Tom, Alex, Mitchell or Brett available. Rolleston quickly put pressure on our defence with some neat interchanges that split our defenders apart and gave the attacker a one on one to slot it past Lewis.

The Rams were soon back under pressure after some poor defending. We were again unable to cope with the pace and crisp passing from the opposition. Rolleston quickly added to their tally after some consistent pressure and we were unable kick the ball clear.

Lewis made some fine saves in the first half to prevent Rolleston making it a cricket score. A long kick from Lewis gave us the opportunity to attack with Ben and Harry linking up well upfront. Kian came on to make his Newhall debut and was thrown straight in at attacking midfield to replace the injured Rhys.

Rolleston were attacking in numbers and produced a string of excellent goals to make it 5-0 at the break.

Half Time Newhall Rams 0 – Rolleston 5

Second half the Rams lined up with Lewis in goal, a back four comprising of Callum, Leo, Mia and David. Thomas just in front, Ben on the right, Adam on the left, Rhys as attacking midfield, Josh and Harry upfront.

The Rams started the second half well, we started to pass the ball better and were withstanding the constant pressure from Rolleston. Leo and Thomas were defending well and clearing the danger with some excellent defensive headers. David, Mia and Callum also had a busy evening in defence! It was good to see that all the defenders never stopped working and battled well against the waves of attacks from Rolleston.

At one point it looked like Lewis had an invisible shield around his goal as the ball managed to bounce off both uprights and the crossbar before Lewis managed to prevent it crossing the line.

Ben had a shot smash against the post after an excellent strike from the right that deserved a goal. Harry was pleased to get onto the score sheet after he latched onto a loose pass from Rolleston and smashed the ball across the keeper into the net. No more than he deserved after running his socks off in attack.

The Rams never gave up tonight and battled well to the end. Well done for 100% effort!!

Full Time: Rams 1 - 10 Rolleston.

The player of the match tonight went to Lewis. A fine performance in goals to prevent what could have been a cricket score!!

Many thanks for your excellent support today, thanks also to Ian for running the line in Martin’s absence.
