Rams react late to ruffle a few of the Swans feathers

Rams lined up with Lewis in goal, a back four comprising of Josh, Ben, Mia and Thomas. Tom just in front, Mitchell on the right, David on the left, Alex as attacking midfield, Rhys and Harry upfront. The subs were Brett and Callum.

Stapenhill started the game the brightest and Newhall were caught napping from the start. Stapenhill quickly got onto the score sheet and powered there way to a 3-goal lead after taking advantage of some sloppy defending and poor marking.

Newhall reacted half way through the first half after an excellent passing move between Mitchell, Harry and Tom slotted Alex through the Stapenhill defence who coolly finished past the keeper.

Newhall added a second soon after. Alex took the ball down the right wing and crossed for Harry to smash the ball over the keeper.

(Newhall 2 – Stapenhill 3)

Callum replaced Thomas in defence and Brett came on for Rhys upfront.

Mia was dropping off the attacker so that she had time to react to the pace of the Stapenhill striker. On occasions we were finding it difficult at the back to put the foot through it and clear the danger.

Stapenhill added a fourth late on in the first half after we failed to clear our lines.

Half Time – Newhall 2  - Stapenhill 4

Rams lined up with Lewis in goal, a back four comprising of Mitchell, Ben, Mia and Thomas. Tom just in front, Callum on the right, David on the left, Alex as attacking midfield, Brett and Harry upfront. The subs were Rhys and Josh.

The second half was a much closer affair and the game could have gone either way. The Stapenhill defence were doing everything to prevent Harry and Alex getting into a shooting position. The Rams were awarded a number of free kicks just outside the box that Alex despatched just wide past the post.

Newhall were battling well all over the pitch and Thomas was excellent heading clear when the long balls over the top were delivered. Lewis was kicking well both out of his hands and from goal kicks setting up Alex, Rhys and Harry in attack. Tom was doing a superb job keeping the pacy Stapenhill attacker shadowed throughout the second half. Mitchell and Mia linked up well in the centre of defence to prevent and attacks through the middle.

Stapenhill were awarded a corner on the right, which was headed home to make it Stapenhill 5 Newhall 2. The Rams reacted with a late flourish of attacks that saw Harry held back in the box. Alex was having his shirt pulled on numerous occasions that were just ignored. Further attacks saw Alex through on goal and he smashed it over the keeper to make it Newhall 3 Stapenhill 5.

Well done to the Rams who battled really well today and a great second half performance!

Full time: Newhall 3 - 5 Stapenhill.

Player of the match today went to Alex. A real powerhouse in midfield. Excellent finishing and a superb cross to set up Harry!

Many thanks for your excellent support today, thanks also to Ian for helping today in Chris absence and also a big thanks to Martin again for running the line. Thanks to Lynn and Nicky for the drinks and cakes!
