Date filed: 08 Dec 2013
Played: 8th December 2013
Dreadful defending is Rams Downfall.
Starting XI - Lewis, Callum, Ben, Rhys, David, Tom, Josh, Alex, Harry, Brett, Thomas. Subs Mia, Leo, Adam.
From the off with the wind against them, Rams struggled to clear their lines and found themselves on the back foot with Bromley forcing all the early attacking play. Defensively all over the pitch we struggled, unable to get the ball clear and relieve the pressure. And indeed this was reflected in the half time scoreline that saw the oppostion go in 3-0 to the good. The one main positive of the half was the surging runs down the right of Harry that gave us our only real outlet attacking wise. The play was all too rushed like the old hot potato syndrome and very little in the way of any decent football. The one chance of note came right at the end of the half, Tom held the attacking line brilliantly and Alex slotted it through for him to run on to but the ball got away from him before he could get the shot away.
Half Time: Rams 0 - 3 Bromley.
Second half saw Adam, Leo and Mia enter the game with various other rolling subs on and off to ensure 'meaningful match time' was had by all.
We still struggled to get in the game and indeed conceded 2 further goals, though Lewis did well to time his coming off his line to deny the Bromley attack.
Finally, Rams got a goal back through Alex and there was a sense of relief and perhaps a bit of belief they could actually score further. But still all over the pitch we struggled defensively, not winning the 50-50s and letting the challenges pass by. A neat bit of play and through taking time Tom was able to play a great little ball through the Bromley defence for Alex to get on to, to hit home his second. Harry made a great turn form 8 yards out and hit a thunderous drive on the spin but saw his effort fly over. Alex completed his hat-trick with a whipped in free kick from wide on the right that nobody got a touch on, though there were shouts of offside the ref gave the goal.
Sadly time ran out for Rams to get anything out the game.
Full time: Rams 3 - 5 Bromley.
An improved second half display but with lots to focus on and improve on in training.
No player of the match award today as nobody really stood out above the rest in what was a collectively below average performance.
Blackout winner - Tony.
Thanks as always to Martin for running the line, and the others that help out on match days. Much appreciated.
