The lions roared on to what should have been a more comfortable victory after a shaky start saw them go 2 down within 15 minutes but they steadied their nerves and came back to win another game full of grit and determination.

With some players still illegible to play and others not fully fit Newhall still managed to pull together and mount 2 comebacks along the way in a very entertaining game from start to finish, they also managed to have a penalty saved as well, it didn't get off to a great start for Newhall and they were 1 - 0 down within 5 minutes after a long ball over the top caught them flatfooted with Rhys running on for TS to place the ball past a helpless Harry in goal. Further misery came another 5 minutes on when the ball broke unluckily off a Newhall player to play Rhys onside on the edge of the 6 yard box to fire home his second 2-0.

It wasn't as if Newhall were struggling in any way as they were playing the football without any success at the other end, but when they finally had some luck with a deliberate hand ball in the area, they could only watch in dismay as Lewis struck a well hit penalty only to see the TS goalie make a great save diving to his left and also stopped the follow up from Ben, a truly brilliant double moment for him. But it wasn't too long before he was picking the ball out the net after a great move down the right saw a chance on goal for Ben blocked to ricochet out to Connor who made no mistake to make it 2-1.

The game had a pattern, Newhall playing the football and TS using the slope to launch the ball over the top most of the time, so it was not surprising that Newhall got back on level terms but not before a scare from a free kick at the other end that saw Harry tip it round for a corner that came to nothing for TS. Newhall were playing some great football in reasonable conditions, they broke again down the right with Sean and when the ball came to Ben he dodged a few tackles before being tripped for a free kick just outside the box.

Sean made no mistake with a well placed shot into the top left corner, the TS goalie had no way of keeping it out, and the half time whistle blew.

Half Time: Newhall 2 TS Sports 2

The half time talk from Phil and Sam under the new management of the team was a simple one, to keep playing their game as they had done and they will win the game, he told the lads their was too much strength in the team to not end up with any other result at full time, just stay in control.

It seemed to backfire a little with with TS taking an early second half lead through a well worked goal that Leon scored running through the defence with little resistance, moments earlier the Newhall backline which lost some of it's shape today in moving up together as a unit, played the TS winger onside before Leon went on his run to convert.

So at 3-2 TS might have expected to go on and win the game but Newhall had other ideas and this time they didn't panic as Phil had kept telling them, they played their game and many chances came and went before Connor got his second with a neat far corner finish to square the game, not many minutes later Ryan fairly shoulder charged the big TS defender to slot the ball past a stranded TS goalie. Ben then got himself a deserved goal when he turned in the box to find the far corner after a well drilled cross from Ryan was half hartedly cleared into his path to give Newhall some breathing space, 5-3 and Newhall were in control . But in fairness to TS they pulled a goal back after some great work over on their left saw the ball fly past everyone to the right and when it came back across goal it struck the post and ran along the line with Ollie on hand to smash it home from 3 yards, 5-4 what a game!!

Newhall held there nerve but should have had another when Ryan chipped the goalkeeper perfectly to see it strike the bar as it dipped and Connor couldn't convert on the follow up as the angle was too tight but the best goal came after yet another stunning move down the Newhall right saw the ever improving Sean put in a delightful cross that Connor met on the volley to nearly break the back of the net for his hat trick and give Newhall an unassailable 6-4 lead with 3 minutes left.

TS tried to rally late on and were found well offside with a minute to go but carried on to score only for the play to be brought back, and they had another shot that went well wide in the dying seconds.

Full Time: Newhall 6 TS Sports 4

Summary: Phil and Sam summed up the game to everyone by praising them for a great team effort in what was a traumatic week, there were some great performances, Luke, Lewis, Harry in goal, but the man of the match went to little action man Sean who was oustanding, Sam could only add by saying he was proud of the lads for coming back to give such a great show in difficult circumstances.

Linesman's Viewpoint: A great all round team effort today with some moments of restlessness in the ranks but that was probably borne out of passion for wanting to do well given the circumstances they were playing under, and with another new player available next week to add even more power to the team it can only get better from here on in on the playing side of things.

On a final note: A big thank you to Dave Keach and his son for years of support and effort in this team from under 8's onwards, we wish Josh all the best with his long term injury and his cricket in the spring.

Next Game Sunday 8th December versus Belvedere Red at The Marlpit 10.30 kick off see you there!!
