Woodville ram raided to give them the blues!

Rams lined up with Lewis in goal, a back four comprising of Mitchell, Leo, Mia and Callum. Tom and Josh just in front, Ben on the right, David on the left, Alex as attacking midfield, Thomas upfront.

Newhall started slowly and initially found it difficult to get the ball moving due to the muddy conditions! The play was being concentrated in the centre of the pitch making it difficult for us to break through their defence. Alex managed to power his way through and forced a corner. The resultant corner ended up at the feet of Mia who smashed it back into the box, which David steered past the keeper.

Woodville responded straight away with a breakaway, a shot straight at Lewis which he lost grip of and the Woodville attacker pounced on to level the score.

The first half continued to be a battle in the middle of the pitch with Mia and Leo being solid in defence preventing any further attacks. Callum and Mitchell were effective wide at the back, being strong and tackling well.

David was replaced by Adam, Ben and Thomas made way for Harry and Brett.

Tom, Thomas and Alex were linking up well in attack and were putting pressure on the Woodville defence. A corner was expertly dispatched by Tom from the right to give Alex plenty of room to smash past the keeper.

Half time : Newhall Rams 2 - 1 Woodville Rangers Blue.

Second half Rams lined up with Lewis in goal, a back four comprising of Mitchell, Leo, Mia and Callum. Tom and Josh just in front, Brett on the right, Adam on the left, Alex as attacking midfield and Harry upfront.

The second half saw Newhall totally dominate the match. We started to pass the ball effectively, use the wide players and we were now winning every ball.

A lovely through ball from Tom gave Alex the opportunity to smash the ball into the top right corner of the goal. Then a well-worked short corner by Tom to Alex was effectively dispatched into the top of the goal.

Newhall were now hungry for more goals and we were pressing high up the pitch compressing the game into the Woodville half of the pitch. Mia and Leo were winning everything at the back and Tom and Josh were extremely effective breaking up the play in midfield and distributing the ball with accuracy.

Alex produced a lovely cross for Harry to poke into the back of the net. Lewis was on hand to deal with anything that was knocked long over our defence. An excellent long kick from Lewis bounced over the Woodville defence that Alex pounced upon to smash against the underside of the crossbar into the goal.

Harry was replaced by Thomas, Brett was replaced by Ben and David came on for Adam.

We were first to every ball and when we lost it we soon won it back through some excellent tackling by Leo, Mia and Tom. Alex was soon on the score sheet again after a through ball by Josh saw him finish in the bottom corner. Another attack saw Tom take on and beat his man and smash the ball high into the centre of the net. (Newhall 8 - Woodville 1).

Thomas was keen to get onto the score sheet in attack and he didn't have to wait long as he picked the ball up the middle of the goal and smashed it past the keeper. We were now attacking in numbers and passing effectively from midfield to attack. Thomas got another when sent straight through and put it past the keeper.

Newhall were now into double figures and wanted to add to their tally. Woodville had a rare attack and managed to cross it over our defence with the attacker able to run onto and shoot wide past Lewis.

Alex added another couple to his account late into the match to put the icing on the cake to a totally deserved win for the Rams today.

It is great to see all the new players integrate well into the side and all growing in confidence!

Well done to the Rams for an excellent team performance today!!

Full time: Newhall Rams 12 - 2 Woodville Rangers Blue.

Player of the match today went to Mia. A real rock at the back. Great tackling and all round defensive performance!
