Woodville get Ram Raided as Newhall Nick it.

Newhall lined up with Lewis in goal and a back four of Josh, Call, Mia and Harry. Tom in his usual central defensive midfield role, Ben on the right, adam on the left, Alex attacking Midfield and Mtchell and David started up front. Subs were Brett and Rhys.

Newhall started slowly and sruggled to get a hold of the game early on. It was Woodville who deservedly opened the scoring with a neat turn and finish that Lewis had no chance of getting to. The defence struggled to cope with the high balls and also the through balls and were caught out on more than one occasion. Indeed Woodville extended their lead to go 3-0 up by the halfway stage of the first half. A change was made with David withdrawn from the attack to be replaced by Brett and this seemed to have the desired effect with Newhall now looking more of an attacking threat. The long throws of Tom give such a good outlet and can work us up the pitch well. Rams got a goal to get back in the game, a great finish over to the far post from a tight angle from Alex. Newhall now started to create more opportunity, with Tom the rock in the middle using his breaking up play, using his head and passing forward well. Ben and Adam did better as the half wore on and saw more of the action and got into some good wide positions. Two further goals from Alex and one from Brett with a real poachers finish saw Rams get their tally up to 4, though Woodville also got another before the break to see us through to half time. Sandwiched inbetween was a missed penalty from the oppositionafter a Newhall sandwich in the box and a high shot past the advancing Lewis hit the post as Newhall rode their luck.

Half time 4-4.

Second half saw Adam replaced on the left by Rhys with David to join the action again later in the half.

The second half ebbed and flowed with little in the way of chances early on. Rhys had a great game today, he tackled well, distributed it with expertise and got some good solid headers in. Brett was a constant threat up front and had a brilliant chance from a cross whipped over but just couldnt get a toe on it. Mitchell did well slotting in at right back in place of Josh and Call was his usual steady self, firstly in defence then a little further forward. Rams played some really good football second half and one move in particular was fantastic with a neat interchange of passes down the right. Alex's distribution and balls played out wide was also good to see today. So with the game evenly poised it was felt that there would be one more goal in it to decide the outcome. And it came in the way of a hard low ball drilled over by Alex and there in the right place to stab it home was Brett with his second of the game.

That wasn't the end however as Woodville still caused us defensive problems and it took a great high diving save & catch from Lewis right near the end to prevent woodville taking a share of the points.

Full time. Rams 5 - 4 Rangers.

Player of the match today went to Alex with another hat-trick to his name. But A big mention today also goes to Rhys who I thought had a great game today and has improved immensely this season in such a short space of time, Brett who was a real threat up front and got twon good goals by following in and being in the right place at the right time, and finally to Tom who is our engine, his workrate and effort and leadership might not stand out as it has become the norm, but he puts in so much every week, setting things up for the attack and winning headers for the defence not to mention his rocket like throws.

Thanks to Laurie today for doing the teas & coffees, Nicky for the cakes, Ian for doing the admin, Martin for running the line and Shaun for his early get up and pitch inspection. It really is a team effort. Thanks.
