Rams effort was fantastic in this close fought cup tie.

Rams were up against Belvedere Blue at the Marlpit in the first round of the cup, A Belvedere team that were going in to this game on the back of two great league wins against last seasons league one winners and runners up.

Rams were down to just 12 players for the game with a debut for David, Leo slotting in at Centre back alongside Mia, Josh at left back and Mitchell at Right back. Tom sitting just in front of the back four and a midfield three of Ben, Adam and Alex, with Harry up front. Rhys on the side lines to start.

Newhall started very brightly and battled well all over the pitch. The long throws of Tom causing Belvedere all sorts of trouble and setting up numerous Newhall attacks. And Rams got their just rewards for their early effort with Harry hitting home a cracking strike to open the scoring. The first half swayed back n forth with both teams having breaks, but the Newhall defence did brilliantly today, with Josh having his best game of the season so far and Mitchell doing brilliantly on the other side. The goals went in all the way through the half with both teams finding the net. Alex hit A superb first half hat-trick to see Rams go in at half time with a slight lead.

Half Time - Belvedere Blue 3 - 4 Newhall Rams.

Rams started the second half and continued to battle really well in the heat, it was difficult with just the one substitute to call on. This showed as the Rams started to flag a little and the defence becoming a little exposed with the midfield at times struggling to get back to help out.

Rams never gave up and continued to play some very good football and do the dirty work when necessary. The game changed though when Rams were reduced to 10 players. The Belvedere striker was away with Mia in pursuit, just outside the area Mia took down the striker and as the last player was shown a straight red card and the Rams were up against it. Belvedere scored from the resultant freekick to make matters worse. And they would go on to seal the victory. Alex did manage to get another for Rams, showing great strength and vision to put it past the keeper yet again.

Full time - Belvedere Blue 7 - 5 Newhall Rams.

Player of the match went to Alex for 4 well taken goals and overall work rate.

Really proud of the effort put in today by the whole team, in hot conditions, with just one sub and still quite a bit of inexperience in the team. The new players are really settling in well and working hard for the team.

Many thanks for the brilliant support today, was great to see so many people there to cheer them on.
