Eagles Unable to End Chellaston Run!

Newhall's eagles traveled to Alvaston Park to try and inflict the first defeat of the season on Chellaston but the league champions proved too strong!

Chellaston could have been two up in the opening minutes but on both occasions they fired over the bar from close range.

Natalie Eley played a great through ball to Rosie Collins but the Chellaston keeper was fast off her line to collect the ball.

Rosie played in a good cross but the keeper was in great position to collect the ball.

Rosie should have then put the eagles in front when she broke clear but her shot was straight at the keeper.

Chellaston tested Chloe Woodward firing a strong shot and then Chloe pushed a fine effort round her post.

On 30 minutes Chellaston broke down the right and a great finish gave Chloe no chance.

Chellaston went in at the break 2-0 up after a long kick caught out the eagles defence and Chloe came out to collect but the attacker was first top the ball.

HT 2-0

Chellaston wrapped up the game on 41 minutes, from the kick off the ball was played forward and the Chellaston attack fired in from close range.

Both teams continued to push for goals and the eagles dug in and Rosie was unlucky after a good run, Jodie Oughton saw a good shot saved and Emily Bridge won a great tackle and her shot was just wide.

Squad - Chloe Woodward, Kiera Dyche, Courtney Mcintosh, Charlotte Catlin, Rosie Collins, Mikeala Colebrook, Natalie Eley, Keeley Deery, Emily Bridge, Jodie Oughton, Whitney Garner, Melita Astle, Chloe Johnson.

POM - Both full backs had excellent games with Kiera and Charlotte having to work hard to thwart the attack, Charlotte just edged it on the day!

Another fine eagles performance on the day, all digging in to try and get the win.

Chellaston are and have been the best team in our league for the five years we have been playing, champions every campaign and it's been unlucky we drew them in both cup semi finals, thanks for the superb effort girls!

The girls now need one point from our remaining game to secure our best finish in our history and finish runners up behind Chellaston.

Come on girls, you can do it!!!!
