NEWHALL DAZZLED BY THE DIAMONDS

Newhall will be glad to get this season over and done with next week with their final game at home against Ashby Ivanoe it's been a miserable season for them and I am sure they have learned quite a lot but let's hope it hasn't been too harsh a lesson for them to continue believing in their ability because they do have that but with confidence just not where it needs to be at the moment they need to play with a little bit more heart when things do not go their way.

It was Amington who went on the offensive right from the start even with only 10 men and no subs they just totally outplayed Newhall in the first 10 and by then Newhall were 3 down but they suddenly found their feet and scored 2 goals in a minute to see Amington hit the throttle again and score another 2, it's fair to say the 5th could have been avoided with Sam taking a free kick damaging his thigh in the process and rather than stopping play immediately play continued for the Amington striker who Sam kicked the free kick to running on unchallenged to score. Sam couldn't continue so they had to reshuffle to let Connor come on to his normal forward position with Ben.

Half Time: Amington 5 Newhall 2

Newhall had controlled most of the latter part of the first half but they were just letting the Amington forwards run on time and time again, it wasn't as if they were goals they created as such but just were finding it too easy to play through the Newhall backline, we all know they are down and have been told to just go and enjoy the game but it is still demoralising to watch them capitulate time and time again.

Harry went in goal for Luke second half but it was Amington who showed first again and carved the Newhall defence apart with some wide play, whereas Newhall just could not find their players and time and time again failed to switch play or use the wings as an outlet, they also stood off the Amington players letting them play their game whereas Amington being 1 man short chased everything down, Newhall were just too slow on the ball and it was easy for Amington to read the game.

Newhall struggled to keep going as goals kept going in and although Sean scored a late consolation goal it was one man out of 12 who showed what you have to do when the chips are down and that was to keep going, this earned him the Man of the Match award, not for the first time this season.

Final Score: Amington 11 Newhall 3

Phil and Dave are always trying to keep the lads up in morale but it is difficult getting a bit of a hiding week in week out as it has been lately but other than the last 10 minutes where there was an element of a lack of fight across the team, the performances underneath this element of their game had been better, albeit the scoreline doesn't reflect it. With just one more game to go I will also be relishing the break as I have had as hard a job as the players at times with most of the play being in our half of the field, it's not been a good feeling to run the line this season for Newhall I can assure you!

Man Of The Match: Sean

Last game of the season next week Sunday 28th April 10.30 kick off at the Oversetts Stadium, be there to lift and cheer the lads on for their last game in Division 1.

UP THE NEWHALL!!
