Tigers were up against already confirmed runners up Marlborough Rovers in a repeat of last weeks game that was Tigers worse of the season.

We worked hard in training on our strength and battling and today it showed from the off. Tigers were hungry and were straight in at the opposition. Tigers forced most of the early play and played some brilliant football and also did the dirty work when required so as they never gave the opposition a minute on the ball. This was epitomised by our captain today Louis Buck. In the middle of the park he put his body on the line and made some fantastic challenges. In contrast Marlborough looked a totally different outfit that beat us the previous week. But take nothing away from our lads n lass. They wanted it today!

Half Time 0-0.

The second half started pretty much the same way the first ended with Tigers the better team. They harried all over the pitch and did what was required to break up any rare Marlborough attacks. Mia was an absolute rock again in the centre of defence, Manno had by far his best game in the blue and white too. In fact every player on the pitch today played their part. Tigers went close on a couple of occassions but the bar kept them out. It was great to see Dominic back on the pitch after missing recent games and boy did he play well today; All over the pitch winning headers and creating so much.

With just 3 minutes left a neat passage of play from the midfield and the ball was worked out right to Alex. He used his power and strength to bustle past the defender to the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable drive high and wide of the keeper and into the net. The celebrations that followed were totally justified as the Tigers fans went wild. Alex celebrating in fashion by jumping on the coach! And the rest of the players mobbed in.

So just two and a half minutes remained and Tigers would see it out. By continuing as gthey had done all game. Battling and winning the ball with Alex even dropping deep to clear with his head.

Full time Tigers 1 - 0 Marlborough.

MOTM today went to Louis Buck, playing his final game for Newhall, totally deserved today with a fantastic battling performance.

Blackout winner - James Manley. (Mini - Manno)

Well what a fantastic way to finish the season - With Rolleston also beating Burton All Stars, todays victory sees Tigers finish 3rd in the league. This is a brilliant achievement with a smashing group of players and parents. YOU TIGERS!!!!
