NEWHALL REDEEM SOME PRIDE BUT STILL SUFFER ANOTHER CONFIDENCE DRAINING DEFEAT

It was a tough wind blowing across the Ivanoe pitch tonight that made it difficult for both teams to play decent football, but they did get the ball down and the first half was full of chances for Newhall but sadly they were unable to convert one of them probably because of the wind and shooting too far away from goal that made it easy for the Ivanoe goalkeeper to gather.

Newhall were short on players for tonights game with Sam and Lewis out and it didn't help with the recurrance of a groin problem for Josh that virtually ruled him out for the second half leaving Newhall with 10 men against a very well drilled Ivanoe. Harry played in goal first half and turned in another great display but could do nothing about the 4 goals Newhall conceded in an even game but as stated above Newhall couldn't take the chances they created with James coming closest with a great save by their keeper  from a free kick just outside the area.

Half Time: Ivanoe 4 Newhall 0

So there was not a lot to be said at half time other than the fact the lads were a million percent better than the last time out and were advised with no subs to bring on and Josh struggling, all they could do was go out and do the same again. They did that and got their reward but not before they had conceded another goal on the break to Ivanoe, Newhall's reply was well worked with some great passing and movement through the middle of the park to find Connor on the right side of the penalty area, he wrong footed the defender dragging the ball back on his left foot to bury a neat drilled effort to the far corner. It was nothing more than Newhall deserved but they just couldn't find the net, and for the remaining 25 minutes they tired quickly in the conditions with Josh having to go off 10 minutes from the end unable to continue.

Ivanoe rattled another 3 goals past Luke who had gone in for the second half none of which were stoppable including a fantastic left foot strike from the Ivanoe winger who smashed tha ball high into the corner from the left side, I guess aided by the wind a little, but Luke made some fantastic saves to keep the scoreline down.

Final Score: Ivanoe 8 Newhall 1

Phil summed up the game by applauding the players who gave everything and did everything both Dave and he had asked of them, they could give no more and Newhall for first time in recent weeks did relax after the first 10 minutes and play some of the football we know they are capable of. Man of the Match went to Ben who was all over the pitch leading from the front and had to play left back for the last 10 minutes but never gave up the cause and was truly outstanding, on another day he would have put his chances away in the first half and it could have been a different story even though the scoreline suggests different.
