Eagles Out of Cup But Heads Held High!

Newhalls Eagles ahead of their second cup semi final!

Newhall's eagles played their second cup semi final in 5 days against Chellaston and came out second best, they can truly hold their heads high!

It's been tough on the girls getting drawn against Chellaston in both semi finals but what a couple of games it's been!!!

Chellaston kicked with the wind in the first half and Chloe Woodward was soon in action. Firtsly she was quick off her line to thwart the danger and she produced a smart save diving to her left.

The eagles soaked up the pressure and looked to hit Chellaston on the break, Natalie Eley used her superb pace and broke free only for Chellastons keeper to produce a great save at Nat's feet.

Natalie was soon attacking again only for the keeper to make another great save to deny the eagles going ahead.

Keeley Deery was next to go close firing a great shot from the left inches over the corner of the goal with the keeper well beaten.

Chellaston next attack saw a fine effort hit the crossbar and the eagles did well to clear and then Chloe made a fantastic save pushing a shot from eight yards over the bar.

On 30 minutes the eagles defence was breached, Chellaston had a corner from the left and Chloe collected the ball from the kick, she looked to have been fouled and the ball broke free for the Chellaston player to stab home from two yards!

The girls complained to the ref but he was not changing his mind and the goal stood!

The eagles continued to battle till half time and Chloe made another fine save keeping Chellaston at bay!

HT 0-1

On 44 minutes Chellaston extended their lead after a break down the right, the ball was crossed into the box and a Chellaston player ran in unmarked at the back post to finish well.

The eagles got the wind in their sails and Ella Walker saw a great shot just wide and Natalie turned superbly on the edge of the box and forced the keeper into a fine save.

Charlotte Catlin pushing forward then tested the keeper with a fine long shot that was well held.

Jodie Oughton was next played in after excellent build up play but saw her shot two inches wide of the post.

On 75 minutes with the eagles trying to get that first goal Chellaston broke and a great shot from the edge of the area beat Chloe to wrap up the game and see Chellaston into the Challange Cup final!
