Tigers tamed by Bromley.
Todays starting line up - Callum (GK & Capt), Josh (RB), Mia (CB), Thomas (LB), Tom (DM), Alex (AM), Ben (LM), Louis (RM), Brett (ATT). Subs: Lewis, Adam, Harry.
Tigers were sluggish from the start and struggled to get in to the game. They were second to every ball and Bromley took hold early on. Bromley got their opener on 10 minutes, Callum in goal did well to parry a shot on to the bar, it bounced down to Josh who tried to clear but his clearance hit the bar and bounced over the line. 0-1.
Tigers still didn't raise their game, they looked lethargic, where as Bromley were hungry and wanted it more. That said Tigers were unlucky not to get on terms when the ball took an age to drop and Alex did well to get his head over the ball and hit a great strike that thundered the bar. On other occassions it was the Bromley keeper that kept the Tigers attack at bay. In fact it was the oppositon who moved further in front before half time and left Tigers shell shocked.
Half time - Bromley 2 - 0 Tigers.
Tigers got a lecture at half time about raising their game and increasing the effort. This showed as they came out with more purpose second half. Tom's energy and effort in the middle of the park was stand out for me today, and he was man enough to step up for the penalty that Tigers were awarded mid way through for a hand ball. He did everything right in his approach, hard and low to the corner, but saw his effort agonisignly hit the post and come back out for Bromley to clear.
Adam Young was unlucky too with a decent effort on goal and we thought our luck just wasn't in today. The game got a little heated at times, and it was all too much for the opposition linesman who decided to hand over his flag to another parent to conclude the game.
Tigers got their reward with a few minutes left, the expert left foot of Mia whipped in a great free kick and Thomas got his head on it with a brilliant back header that looped over the Bromley keeper. 2-1.
There were only three minutes left and Tigers pressed hard for an equaliser but sadly time ran out.
Full time - Bromley 2 - 1 Tigers.
POTM - went to Thomas Connor. Not many stand out players today for player of the match, the exceptions being Tom in the middle of the park with his non stop effort, and Mia in the middle of defence, with her no nonsense defending as usual.
Thomas Connor got it today though as he did really well, firstly in defence, then getting Tigers goal with a great Header.
Blackout winner - Tony Connor.
Note: I would like say a big thank you today to all players and parents. You presented yourselves in a great manner and stayed calm when things could quite easilly have got out of hand.
