Eagles Draw at the Death!

Newhalls eagles took on St Georges looking for revenge after they inflicted a heavy defeat on us a couple weeks ago!

St Georges got a super start scoring on 3 minutes with a good turn and shot on the edge of the area.

The game settled down from then and both teams enjoyed time on the ball.

Mikeala Colebrook fancied her chances from long range and forced St Georges keeper into a good save.

The eagles then won a free kick on the left touchline after a foul on the full of running Natalie Eley and Keeley Deery saw her superb free kick inches wide of the post.

Newhalls Chloe Woodward then made a great save pushing a shot from the right side of the box onto the post and the ball rolled across the line behind her and cleared by Charlotte Catlin.

Ella Walker was introduced and after a superb through ball Ella shot wide.

The eagles should have gone in level at half time but  Melita Astle fired over after good work from Ella and Ella could have scored after an excellent cross from Natalie but her shot was just the wrong side of the post.

HT 1-0

The eagles came storming out second half and on 42 minutes Keeley Deery leveled the score after picking up the ball in midfield and firing in a long range shot over the St Georges keeper.

The eagles continued to push and Ella shot wide when one on one with the keeper but on 50 minutes Ella made no mistake running onto the ball and side footing past the keeper.

St Georges then looked to be in after a mistake by Whitney Garner allowed the player to run at goal but Whitney recovered making a super tackle to stop St Georges most dangerous player.

After a poor goal kick St Georges leveled as the unmarked player ran into the box and put the ball past the out rushing Chloe.

On 60 minutes St Georges went back in front after poor marking in the area from a St Georges corner, the ball was whipped in and the player flicked the ball with the outside of her foot past Chloe.

With time ticking the eagles pushed for the equalizer and Natalie shot wide from just inside the box.

On 76 minutes Natalie was involved in securing a point after chasing what looked like to be a lost cause, St Georges keeper came out to close Natalie down as she ran into the box down the left, the keeper looked to have the ball but some how she lost it and Natalie crossed the ball to find Rosie Collins running in at the back post to finish!

FT 3-3

Squad - Chloe Woodward, Whitney Garner, Kiera Dyche, Charlotte Catlin, Rosie Collins, Keeley Deery, Mikeala Colebrook, Natalie Eley, Emily Bridge,Jodie Oughton, Melita Astle, Ella Walker.

POM - Whitney Garner, superb at the back today, full of energy, making important tackles and chasing every ball!

A good point to keep us joint second just ahead on goal difference with Wirksworth who we play in two weeks time.

Well done girls listening to the advice before the game and getting on with our football, a superb battling performance from both teams and played in great spirit.

Up the Newhall!!!
