Eagles Draw

Newhalls eagles traveled on one our longest away games of the season and came back with what could be a valuable point!

The fixture saw the second placed eagles away at third placed Wirksworth and both teams battled well throughout.

Chloe Woodward was the first keeper tested saving well after a quick Wirksworth break.

Natalie Eley tested the home keeper after good build up play in midfield. Natalie was then involved setting up Emily Bridge who's shot was just wide.

Emily then tried her luck from distance and saw her shot wide.

The eagles had the upper hand and Melita Astle turned superbly on the right and fired a great shot in just past the post.

Emily returned the earlier assist by setting up Natali who found the Wirksworth keeper quick off her line to save well.

Keeley Deery saw a good shot saved and Emily saw two more good efforts wide and just over.

HT 0-0

The eagles had the advantage of the slope second half but it was Wirksworth who started the better forcing Chloe into a great save to her left.

Kiera Dyche was next to try her luck turning in well from the left and seeing her well struck shot saved.

Ella Walker got in on the act after a well taken corner saw her shot just the wrong side of the bar.

Chloe and Courtney Macintosh then kept Wirksworth at bay, Chloe making a supper save and Courtney clearing the ball before the Wirksworth player could force the ball into an unguarded net.

The chance to take the points fell to Natalie, a superb ball from midfield saw Natalie strike the ball only for the Wirksworth keeper to make a super stop high to her right!

FT 0-0

Squad - Chloe Woodward, Whitney Garner, Courtney Macintosh, Charlotte Catlin, Melita Astle, Mikeala Colebrook, Keeley Deery, Ella Walker, Natalie Eley, Jodie Oughton, Chloe Johnston, Kiera Dyche, Emily Bridge, Rosie Collins.

POM - Courtney Macintosh - Marshalled the defence well and put in some important tackles throughout.

A fair result with both teams creating good chances and both keepers playing well. After a couple of weeks back training after the lay off I'm sure we will be back to our best!

Thanks for our traveling long distance support!
