A cracking competitive game of football that could have gone either way.

Tigers starting line up: Lewis (GK), Josh (RB), Mia (CB), Callum (LB), Tom (DM & Capt), Alex (CM), Dominic (RM), Harry (LM), Brett (Att). Subs: Louis, Thomas, Ben, Adam.

Tigers started brightly and passed the ball well and battled hard in the early exchanges. This was rewarded with the first goal of the game. Alex's shot was too hard for the keepr to hold and Dominic pounced on the rebound to smash it home and put the Tigers 1-0 up. Burton got an equaliser soon after and the excitement was hotting up with some good tasty challenges from both sides. Alex's battling and strength got him into the box and he was unended to earn Tigers a Penalty. Up stepped Dom to thunder his and Tigers second into the net. Thomas came into the game in place of Brett up front and had an imediate impact. Tigers couldn't build on their lead however and it was Burton who got the next goal to make it 2-2 and thats how it ended at Half time.

The second half got underway with numerous changes in the team to ensure they all played a meaningful part in the game. We were aware of the threat posed by the speedy blonde haired Burton striker and at times struggled to cope defensively. That said it was Tigers who opened the second half scoring. A beautiful through ball from Dom found its way to Thomas who did brilliantly to hold off the Burton defender and bustle his way into the box. With the keeper advancing Thomas chipped it over the top and into the net to make it 3-2 Tigers. The game was finely balanced but again Tigers struggled to clear the box and Burton pulled it back to 3-3.

As the game wore on, Alex found himself away and one on one with the keeper but saw his effort put agonisingly wide. You felt if that had gone in Tigers may have gone on to wrap the game up. Tigers also had a goal ruled out quite bizarely for offside when Alex put in a great cross from the right for Dom to poke home, but the linesman flagged for a puzzling offside. But as it happened it was the opposition who siezed the day with 2 further goals late in the game put give them a 5-3 victory.

The result was a little harsh on the Tigers today as the effort they put in could not be faulted, but thats football. We need to learn to put a foot through it and get it clear at times!

If they continue to put in performances and effort like they did today then they are sure to pick up a few more victories between now and the end of the season.

Todays MOTM went to Dom, 2 great goals and a great through ball to set up Thomas' goal.

Todays blackout winner was Judith.

Brilliant turnout from the Tigers faithful today, thank you.

Great report and sounds like you almost beat a good team, it's difficult when the defence struggle to grasp when to clear the danger rather than play through it. But a good turnaround after the last result the other side of christmas against a superior team, it's good to see they came back to give it a go and not get disheartened.

The performances have been very consistent apart from the pre-Christmas cup defeat when we were beaten by the better side. We have improved immensley as a team this season and also the players individually. The strength of character of the team can't be faulted and the attitude too, they never give up trying!
